A picture speaks a thousand words, and a video draws a thousand pictures?, or whatever… But here is a video of me explaining and showing how the new ‘divisions’ feature for Gratuitous Tank Battles works, and how to use it. I’m quite pleased with it. It will be in patch 1.003, which after a little bit of final testing will be release tommorow.

Like A dork I broke my wireless router today trying to install a new aerial booster. BAH. Tomorrow an urgently ordered new one shows up. There goes a days sales :( Plus hopefully my much wanted new desk, which is very English and wooden and cheesy and old fashioned, but it will suit my house, which a modern shiny thing would just look odd in. Anyway. Enjoy the video, critiques and comments most welcome.

That’s a cool idea. And this game looks effing awesome generally. Random suggestion: Do you think that, attached to the bottom bar, you could have little tabs, so you can flick between each set on the fly without opening up that window? Reducing number of clicks from three to one, Taktzeit/Toyota style up in here.

it might get a bit cluttered, but I wonder if I should add a hotkey number to each division, and let you just select them using number keys? that could be pretty awesome. Although it won’t be in this current patch.

Yeah, that would be rather slick, I reckon.

    +1 :)

    Idea/Suggestions:

    1. Hotkey assigning, or buttons to quick swap between divisions.
    2. When creating a division, instead of using the fairly time consuming drag and drop method you used, why not click to add and click to remove? It’s much quicker and more simple. You click a unit on the right to add it to the division and it becomes grayed out. You click a unit in the division to remove it from the division.

+1 to NickW and main screen tabs and to Raiden with the simple clicking, I would also like to see units being able to be in multiple divisions at once

  7. cliffski says:

units can already be in multiple divisions. That greying out just means the unit is in the currently seelcted one, selecting a new division re-enables them all.

    :D awesome!

To elaborate on my simple clicking suggestion above. I have played games where you have to drag and drop things back and forth like that and spending that much time swiping back and forth with my mouse is really no fun at all.

This is great, but it would be awesome to have clickable tabs or hot keys to switch between divisions without reopening the drag/drop menu
