Game Design, Programming and running a one-man games business…

Welcome to the new blog!

I finally got around to installing word press on the Positech Website so I no longer have my blog hosted elsewhere. Hurrah! Hopefully this is the start of me taking the blog a lot more seriously and putting up some more interesting stuff. The old blog ran for a looong time over at blogger, but it’s time to leave the old blog behind.

Hopefully I’ve installed things right and I won’t lose any readers from the old blog.

  1. Yeah I originally had mine hosted by WordPress but their T&Cs don’t allow you to “pimp it up” with adsense (which I know you don’t want to do anyway). Oh and I couldn’t add a custom header. So I moved it to my own domain and fiddled with it for days until it looked just right and was stuffed full of ads (which make f-all money).

    Anyway, I hope that you have installed WP 2.5 as my older 2.something got totally hacked via some exploit or another (you can read about it on my blog).

    Good luck with the new blog home.

    P.S. Are you going to add a custom header?

  2. Nice blog style Cliff, good luck with it.

    Keep up the good and amusing blogging! ;-)

    @Gavin
    There was an RSS feed on the old one, you had to really dig around to find it though.

  3. Suggest running your feeds through feedburner.com. This give you some statistics on readers, and their plugin does it’s magic without changing the URL used for feeds (the redirection is internal).

    Also; I haven’t tried it myself, but there is talk saying that WP is king of a resource hog – you might want to look out for a cache plugin (wp-cache or something).

    Cheers!

  4. Hi there,
    One comment (and my apologies if someone else beat me to it) – it’s nice having the timestamp (or at least date) on the posts on the main page. I couldn’t tell if the posts were older (like if you had set this up before you switched officially) or if they were new. If it’s not an option in your WordPress theme, a line of php should do it.
    Best,
    Kai
