Ideally the effect says &#8220;this hit the ship and got through shields, but it didn&#8217;t get any further&#8217;. my plan was for the ship to look like it &#8216;glowed&#8217;.<br \/>\nThe problem was, that with the whole ship glowing, it looked a bit overdone, and non-specific. After a lot of fiddling, I can apply an expanding and fading sprite as a &#8216;decal&#8217; to the ship (which is fiddly without assuming shader support, and involves some interesting multi-texturing code and so on&#8230;)<br \/>\nHere it is: ( i stupidly called it shield effect test. it&#8217;s armor effect. doh!)<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"425\" height=\"344\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/mP5HOUaYaS0&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1&#038;\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/mP5HOUaYaS0&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1&#038;\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"425\" height=\"344\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>Is this better?
