This is the new news page for Starship Tycoon. we will place information
here on updates and new developments with the game.
A new version of Starship Tycoon was released today.
this is a small update to version 2.4 Among other things it adds
support for fullscreen mode toggle using alt+enter, fixes for wrong
pricing of module scrap values, and the long-missed bug of user-changed
ship names not being saved in savegames is now fixed. Sadly this
means the save game format is changed so upgraded versions won't
load older save files. See below for details on patching...
There are two recent patches that only affect the
full version of the game. This brings the current full version to
build 2.32 (check the bottom right of the menu screen). The fixes
address a save game crash and a frame rate issue when running the
larger random maps in freeform mode (full game only). Just re-download
the game using the link in your sales confirmation email to get
the latest version. As usual if you have problems redownloading
just drop us an email using our web form.

The latest version is now 2.3. This fixes some small
bugs, ensures you can get ships to buy in the freeform random maps,
and also displays the crewmember icons over their respective crew
cabins in the modules view. Check out our forums (link on left of
page) for the most up to date information on new versions. If you
bought the game recently, you can redownlaod it using the same link
to get the new improved version. This also fixes a crash bug on
the 'Gambling with phasers' level.
Version 2.24 has been released. This version adds an extra mission to the 'story-mode' plus fixes some small bugs to do with scroll bars and the
tutorial. We also have a special deal going where you can get Planetary Defense for half price when you buy Starship Tycoon. So what are you waiting for?
We just released a small patch for the game. Version 2.22 is now out. This version adds a control for the sound effects volume to the
options screen and also adds some tooltips to parts of the GUI. You can now cancel course-setting mode by right clicking. This version also fixes a bug where
crew would complain about their salaries too often.

We just released version 2.18a of the game. There
are some small tweaks to the game in this build, as well as a fix
for the weird graphical sploginess that sometimes plagued the graphs
window. We have also fixed the bug in the Quantum drive scenario
where the wrong type of module was being requested, and fixed a
bug which prevented save games remembering how much cargo had been
delivered towards winning a mission.

We are currently updating some of the planet graphics
within the game, to add more variety and make the planets look cooler
and more consistent. These new planet graphics will be included
in the next update for the game, which will be a free update as
usual. Here are a few small thumbnails of a few of the new planets:
This new update should be available very soon, as
is expected to be version 2.18. Don't forget all updates are free,
so don't hesitate to get the game now!
