How do I install the game?

If the file you download is called 'Setup.exe' Just double click it. If the file is called asteroidminer.zip, you will need 'winzip' to decompress the files before the game runs. You can get winzip HERE. Make sure you tick the "Use Folder Names" checkbox when you unzip the files.

Asteroid Miner quits with the message "Missing files, please reinstall the program".

Asteroid miner checks for the existence of certain files when it starts, if any files are missing it will quit with this message. Make sure there are no missing files, and reinstall the program. If unzipping it, make sure the program unzips into its directory structure.To do this, make sure the 'Use Folder Names' checkbox is ticked when unzipping.

The Sounds only play once then are not audible.

This is a bug caused by the proprietary hardware acceleration offered on some sound cards. This problem is fixed by turning off the unnecessary performance features in the multimedia control panel.

My copy of Asteroid Miner is registered but doesn't show up as registered

You can re-enable the registration of Asteroid Miner at any time if the registration data becomes corrupted. just enter the code again to re-enable the full game. (Dosen't apply to the retail version).

Multiplayer mode doesn't work with TCP/IP

This bug exists only in the original 1.0 release. Re-download version 1.3 To fix this bug. (also improves game play, graphics etc)

After a while the laser blasts disappear.

This is a bug with very early copies of the game. if you downloaded after 19th April 99 you should not have this problem.  If you dont have version 1.3, just re-download the game to fix the problem, and get the benefits of version 1.3!
